About Mon Sheong Court The Mon Sheong Foundation Long Term Care Facilities

The Mon Sheong Home for the Aged first started in 1975 with 65 beds, and eventually expanded to house a total of 105 long term care beds. Due to the growing problems of global aging, the Mon Sheong Foundation underwent rapid expansion to build new long term care centres during these past few years. In 2003, the Mon Sheong Richmond Hill Long Term Care Centre was built to provide 192 long term care beds for the community, while the Mon Sheong Scarborough Long Term Care Centre, opened in 2004, provides 160 long term care beds. In aggregate, the Foundation is providing a total of 457 long term care beds, a 700% increase in its service capacity since inception. The Foundation wishes to reciprocate to society and help meet the increasing need of long term care services for those in need.

All three centres provide services for frail seniors, non-seniors with physical and neurological impairment, or older couples and seniors affected by dementia. In addition, the centres are furnished with 3 different room types, namely, private, basic, couple, and short term stays. Round the clock emergency medical services are provided to help minimize the risk of delayed medical attention. Residents’ safety is assured with a discreet security system, while regular meetings with residents’ families are scheduled to enhance mutual communication and understanding.

To allow the residents to experience the feeling of being at home, all staff and medical staff are able to communicate in Chinese. Furthermore, special meals are prepared in ways that suit the cultural needs of the residents. Apart from looking after the residents’ physical conditions, the long term care centres also provide a wide variety of recreational, religious, and cultural activities to ensure that all residents’ enjoy their stay to the fullest.

Although the three long term care centres of the Foundation are already in service to the public, the Foundation still needs to meet mortgage payments and maintenance expenses for the facilities, and thus, there is still great demand for fundraising support from the community. Our proud theme is "Sharing and Caring With You By Our Side" and we certainly look forward to your continuous support to make that happen.
