Summer Volunteers

The following volunteer summer positions are offered to Youth Group members.
All positions begin immediately until August 31, 2012.

Details are as follows:

Richmond Hill Long-Term Care Centre:

Technology Assistant- IT Department

Job Descriptions:

  • Maintain and monitor computer network and Internet operations to meet technology needs
  • Resolve operation-related issues
  • Provide technical support to district staff

Qualifications:

  • Aged between 15 and 25
  • Proficient in English and Chinese (in oral)
  • Knowledge in networking and programming
  • Good problem solving skills
  • Willingness to learn

Reports to: IT Specialist
Time Commitment: 1 day per week (M - F), 10am – 4pm
Up to 2 volunteers needed

 

 

Scarborough Long-Term Care Centre:

Office Assistant - Volunteer Department

Job Descriptions:

  • Perform database entry
  • Assist in office management, including storage system, paper and electronic filing systems etc.
  • Provide assistance to staff, including liaising or following up with volunteers, performing general office support, taking telephone messages, compiling and recording volunteer hours etc.

Qualifications:

  • Aged between 15 and 25
  • Proficient in English and Chinese (in oral)
  • Good communication skills, self-motivated and ability to follow directions
  • Good organizational skills and record management skills
  • Team player and independent worker

Reports to: Co-ordinator, Volunteer Services
Time Commitment: 1 day per week (M - F), 10am – 4pm
Up to 3 volunteers needed

 

 

Mon Sheong Court (Scarborough):

Activities Receptionist - Mon Sheong Court

Job Descriptions:

  • Greets residents and guests and directs them to Activities Staff or other departments when necessary.
  • Answers questions or explains about the in-house programs and events
  • Do registrations for residents of the activities they are joining
  • Makes reminder phone calls to residents who registered to programs for the following day.
  • Setup and preparation of programs and events
  • Prepares correspondence as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Aged between 18 and 30
  • Basic knowledge of computer and data entry
  • Must be fluent in Cantonese / Mandarin
  • Pleasant manner
  • Patience
  • Problem-solving ability
  • Dependability

Reports to: Activities Co-ordinators
Time Commitment: 1 days per week (M - F), 10am – 4pm
Up to 5 volunteers needed

Front Desk Receptionist- Mon Sheong Court

Job Descriptions:

  • Greet and assist residents and visitors in a warm and friendly manner.
  • Directing visitors to appropriate staff.
  • Provide general information services for residents and visitors.
  • Maintain magazine management.
  • Karaoke/Theatre room booking and preparation.
  • Ping Pong table booking management.
  • Managing for all kinds of activities and games borrowing & collections (MahJong, card Games, Chess, etc…)
  • Library Management.
  • Newspaper distribution.
  • General Helper.
  • Public relations.
  • Other duties may be assigned if necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Aged between 18 and 30
  • Must have good customer service skills.
  • Communication skills to interact with staff, residents and visitors.
  • Ability to work in a cooperative manner with other staff members.
  • Pleasant manner, organization skills, great patience, good listener and strong problem solving skill
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Must be a team player.
  • Must be fluent in Cantonese, English and/or Mandarin.

Time Commitment: 1 day per week (M - F), 10am – 4pm
Up to 5 volunteers needed

 

 

All volunteer positions above are qualified for volunteering hours for high schools.
Volunteering hours up to 20 hours a week.
