Q: I do not have any particular skills. Can I volunteer at Mon Sheong?
|

A: Mon Sheong recruits volunteers who have the passion to help others. There are different kinds of volunteer jobs. As long as you are willing to help, we can always find some volunteer jobs suitable for you.

Q: I am a senior, can I still volunteer?
|
|
A: We welcome all volunteers over 17 years old to volunteer at Mon Sheong long term care centres. All candidates will be interviewed to determine whether they are suitable to volunteer.

Q: I am under 18 years old. Can I volunteer?
|
|
A: Mon Sheong has set up a youth group to support different charitable events such as the Fun Run/Walk, Bowling Tournament, Scotia Bank Waterside Run/Walk and many other activities. Youths under 18 years old are welcome to join.

Q: I have never committed any crimes. Can I skip the police check?
|
|
A: We care and protect our residents. The police check is a standard procedure we must conduct to protect our residents.
|

Q: I am a very healthy person. Why do I have to go through the medical test?
|
|
A: To ensure that our residents are protected from communal disease, we require our volunteers to receive the medical certification from their doctors proving they are free from communal disease such as tuberculosis.
|

Q: We have to disclose some personal information in the form; will the information be kept highly confidential?
|
|
A: All personal information is kept with high confidentiality.
|
|

Q: I cannot work every day. Is it OK?
|
|
A: The volunteer hours can be very flexible. They can range from volunteering 1 day to 5 days. The specific work hours can be arranged with our volunteer department. However, after the work day and hour are arranged, volunteers are requested to follow the work plan, and should advise the Activation Officer if he/she has to change the plan.

Q: Will we receive training before volunteering?
|
|
A: All volunteers will attend an orientation session before they start. For some volunteer work such as feeding, training will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to receive in house training provided by each long term care centre.

Q: Do we get recognition as volunteers?
|
|
A: Mon Sheong treasures our volunteer services. Recognition certificates are presented to volunteers with over 40 hours of volunteer services in the annual appreciation party. Volunteers providing over 5 years services will also be recognised at the AGM meeting.

Q: Can I ask for a reference letter from Mon Sheong?
|
|
A: All volunteers who volunteer over 40 hours can request a reference letter from the Mon Sheong Volunteer Department.
