August 21, 2017—Mon Sheong Foundation is thrilled to announce a new $300,000 donation from HSBC Bank Canada that will help 280 youth participate in two important Mon Sheong Youth Group programs, the DiSCOVER program and the Development Challenge program, over the next three years (2017-2019).

Organized by youth for youth, the DiSCOVER program’s enriching workshops, leadership retreat, and volunteer activities combine a deeper learning of Chinese heritage with extensive personal development. The engaging experience is highlighted by a subsidized two-week trip to China where participants travel to several major cities, explore landmark attractions firsthand, and take part in an academic exchange with local university students.

The Development Challenge program is designed to explore entrepreneurship and develop the necessary skills to succeed in any business environment. In teams, participants will take an idea from conceptualization all the way to implementation with real money and a real business plan. They will present their detailed plan before a panel of judges and receive funding to execute their proposed business with the goal of doubling the original investment. Teams will also be paired with mentors who will guide them through the entire process while providing experienced advice and potential networking opportunities.

HSBC Bank Canada is a long-time supporter of Mon Sheong, contributing more than $800,000 to a range of important community programs since 2002.
