Toronto, ON, June 2, 2018 – An auspicious event happened today in the heart of Downtown Toronto. Families, friends, Board of Directors, volunteers and staff of Mon Sheong Home for the Aged gathered together to celebrate the birthday of fifteen seniors that are over the age of 100.

This annual event is a special event. Many of us hope that we’ll live long and healthy lives, much like these fifteen seniors. The eldest seniors happen to both be 110, Mr. Tak Wong and Mrs. Foon Hay Lum. This is not an easy milestone to reach. The cumulative age, of all the seniors over the age of 100 in attendance, is above 1500. With only 105 beds at Mon Sheong Home for the Aged on D’Arcy Street, these fifteen seniors make up roughly fifteen percent of the facility. This signifies the quality of services and care Mon Sheong Home for the Aged provides their residents.

Thanks to wonderful volunteers and staff, the day was filled with cheer. Volunteers prepared various performances and activities for the seniors to enjoy, including traditional Chinese dancing and a concert featuring golden oldies. All fifteen seniors received birthday greetings from Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, wishing them well on this special day. What is a birthday party without a cake? A birthday cake was brought out for everyone to partake in. Guests chatted with each other while enjoying the various performances.
