Cathay Ball 2019 – “Symphony of Lights”
Encouraging a Warm and Caring Community
Toronto, ON, October 2, 2019 – On November 2nd, Mon Sheong Foundation’s 28th Cathay Ball is set to take Toronto on an odyssey full of warmth, love and light. Today, at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Cathay Ball’s Co-Chairs announced the theme, “Symphony of Lights”, to audience members. On top of the theme, many exciting details, including performances, were brought to light as well, promising a glamorous and emotional evening. All proceeds from the evening will go towards supporting the building of Mon Sheong’s fourth long-term care centre, located in Stouffville.
To bring “Symphony of Lights” to life, a lot of different angles were considered and ideas shared. Co-Chairs David Cheng, Vice President of Mon Sheong Foundation, Francis Tsui, Vice President of Mon Sheong Foundation, and Larry Tomei, Executive Vice-President, Retail Banking & Wealth Management at HSBC Bank Canada, wanted the event to not only represent the many wonderful services Mon Sheong provides, but as a physical representation of the care-filled light we all carry inside us.
“It’s all about bringing warmth, hope and love to the community,” Cheng said after thanking Presenting Sponsor, HSBC Bank Canada, “We want to remind everyone that they have a ray of light within them, and this ray of light, no matter how small, can bring warmth, hope and love to someone in need.” He went on to explain that to bring the world of light to Cathay Ball, the team has worked tirelessly to provide awe-inspiring entertainment options. This includes a modern variation of a Lion Dance and beautiful Ballroom Dancers accompanying Michael Ciufo, one of Canada’s singing treasures.
Tsui gestured to the Light Painting demonstration booth and said, “Light Painting is an art form that is enjoying popularity right now and what better way for guests to experience light than to be a part of it. We will be featuring our “Art of Light Gallery” Light Painting booth alongside the fantastic Selfie Mirror photo booth and the ever popular Social Photo Booth. We look forward to seeing all of you at Cathay Ball and your ecstatic faces at all the new aspects we’ve created.”
