Position summary

The Associate Director of Development will be responsible for the development of the Major Gifts fundraising and Event Sponsorship for their respective portfolio by identifying and engaging individuals, corporations or Foundation who are capable of making gifts over $25,000.  The incumbent will also develop fundraising strategies and lead the implementation of the Foundation’s $30 million capital campaign to support the construction of Mon Sheong new long-term care centres.

The Associate Director of Development will work closely with volunteers and stakeholders to support the cultivation and solicitation activities ensure proper stewardship takes place following a gift to engage the donor’s continued involvement, interest and support.

The incumbent will spearhead fundraising efforts as Mon Sheong Foundation continues to grow our services. The role requires a motivated and passionate individual who believes in our mission and has a proven track record of achieving ambitious revenue goals and growth targets. This role is accountable for managing all aspects of a comprehensive fundraising program.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Accountable for the development, implementation and outcomes of a full suite of fundraising programs: corporate, foundation, annual giving, events, direct response, major gifts, grants, planned giving, monthly gifts and event sponsorship.
  • Set and drive the organization’s strategic philanthropic goals and strategies.
  • Build and maintain relationships with individuals and organizations capable of making gifts at different levels.
  • Manage all strategies and activities for stakeholder cultivation, solicitation and relations to build donor/sponsor base and retention.
  • Oversees the ongoing identification, monitoring and evaluation of a prospect’s capacity level as well as their readiness to give.
  • Cultivates donors by producing specialized correspondences, scheduling and attending in-person visits in collaboration with the stakeholder and Senior Management Team.
  • Oversees campaign operations to prepare written materials including case statements, tailored proposals, correspondence, impact reports and planning documents.
  • Oversees the coordination of the resources necessary to carry out the Capital Campaign and annual operating fundraising program, including development budget, donor database and other fundraising tools.
  • Works collaboratively and creatively with the Marketing and Communications team to appropriately position development opportunities and integrate messages in publications, grant submissions, reports, and collateral materials for campaign, cultivating and stewarding donors.
  • Prepare fundraising and campaign materials such as proposals, briefing notes, case statements, presentations, projection and progress reports, gift agreements, and other related documents and communications.
  • Accountable for the full stewardship cycle for donors: qualify, cultivate, ask, thank, inform and ensures appropriate donor recognition, acknowledgement, and stewardship activities are implemented with the goal of repeat gifts
  • Attend external functions and events when required
  • Performs other related duties as required or assigned to support the overall goals of the Development team.

Qualifications

  • University degree or equivalent experience in Fundraising, Marketing or related field.
  • Minimum of five years’ progressive fundraising experience including experience with major gifts and corporate giving.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and proven ability to develop and maintain complex multi-level relationships with corporate partners, individual donors, volunteer boards, committees, peers and support staff.
  • Advanced knowledge of current and established fundraising principles and techniques.
  • Results-driven, self-starter, and highly motivated with a leadership and interpersonal style that fosters constructive and productive relationships.
  • Ability to effectively articulate the mission, strategic vision and values of the organization to a wide range of internal & external constituents.
  • Skilled relationship manager, able to interact with high-level donors, build relationships, and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Proven data management and analysis skills with experiences in Raiser’s Edge NXT
  • Experience developing and implementing capital campaigns an asset.
  • CFRE an asset.
  • Proficiency in the Chinese and English languages (both written and oral) .
