Position Summary:
Reporting to the Activation Supervisor at Mon Sheong Scarborough Long Term Care Centre, the incumbent must assist with the planning and implementation of activities and special events for the residents during the summer.
Main Duties:
- Assist with planning the recreational, cultural and educational programs for our senior residents;
- Support the resident advocacy program by promoting the Residents’ Bill of Rights in the aspect of raising awareness of senior abuse;
- Encourage residents’ participation by using humanizing elements (i.e. volunteers, pets, plants, décor, music, etc.) to develop integrated and active lifestyles;
- Support families and caregivers with their involvement in social and recreational activities.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in a Social Services, Community Services, Activation, and/or Health Sciences program in a recognized University/College;
- Ability to work independently as well as a part of a team;
- Experience working with seniors an asset;
- Bilingual in English and Chinese is preferred.
Other Requirements:
All summer student positions are funded to promote employment opportunities for students, thus the duration of these positions are subject to funding approval. To be eligible for the program, job applicants should meet the following criteria:
