Markham, ON, June 16, 2018 –This year will be Mon Sheong Foundation Chinese School’s 50th year celebrating their students’ achievements. During the 50th Anniversary Celebration and Campus Graduation, Mon Sheong Foundation Chinese School gathered over a thousand people to celebrate half a century of accomplishments and memories.

On behalf of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council, the Acting Consul General, Zhuang Yaodong, from the Consulate-General of the People’s Republic of China in Toronto, presented a cheque of $38,000 to Mon Sheong Foundation Chinese School. This is in acknowledgement of Mon Sheong Foundation Chinese School’s fifty years of hard work and dedication.

Afterwards, performances, made up of students from every class, began. From singing and dancing to Chinese poetry recitations, students took this opportunity to display their many talents. A brief video with Dr. Lap Chee Tsui, former Co-Chair of Mon Sheong Foundation Chinese School, and Frank Chau, current Co-Chair of Mon Sheong Foundation Chinese School was also broadcasted. Dr. Tsui stressed the importance of learning Chinese overseas and commended Chinese School’s mandate to nurture students.

Mon Sheong Foundation Chinese School has been innovative in its teaching methodology since its inception, ensuring relevance for their students. Mon Sheong Foundation Chinese School believes that for students to learn, they need to be taught at their own pace and level, which is the mentality every teacher at the School employs. The Chinese School also presented scholarships and awards to students that excelled in their studies, including the Academic Contest Award, presented by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office.
