Mon Sheong Fun Run and Walk Online Challenge

Stay Healthy! Stay Strong! Stay Connected!

Toronto, ON, June 18, 2020 – Running or walking 5K, is something we encourage the community to do.

This year, Mon Sheong Foundation will change the annual Mon Sheong Fun Run and Walk into an online challenge, to encourage the public to incorporate exercise into their daily lives and stay healthy. Participants only require an electronic device to record their daily running or walking distances, with the goal of completing 6,500 steps (equal to 5K in distance) by July 19th. By competing in teams or with friends and family, participants can stay connected regardless of distance, while staying healthy and fundraising for the community. Please visit www.funrunandwalk.ca to register. All proceeds will go towards the building of the Stouffville Long-Term Care Centre.

The Mon Sheong Fun Run and Walk Committee co-chairs Andy Lam, Teresa Wong, and Kelvin Chiu said, “Mon Sheong Fun Run and Walk has reached its 34th year. This Online Challenge encourages people to include exercise as a part of their daily routine and not be limited by time and place, while taking part in a charitable activity, bringing energy and positivity to the community. We hope that this event will be able to fundraise $100,000 to help build the new Mon Sheong Stouffville Long-Term Care Centre.”

This event will officially start on June 18th and participants can register online for free as an individual or as a team. All ages are welcome. Participants can walk, run, jog or dance to reach the goal of 6,500 steps (equal to 5K in distance) and use an app or pedometer to record their activities. Participants are encouraged to invite friends and family to join or support them by making pledges.
