Markham, April 9, 2018 – Mon Sheong Golden Seniors Celebration took place on Saturday, April 7 at MEC Markham Events Centre. Over 800 guests were in attendance, of which over 130 of them were above 75 years-old. Combined, our seniors have lived over 10 millenniums, making this the highest cumulative age Mon Sheong Golden Seniors Celebration has had to date. Representatives from all three levels of government also joined in celebrating the many contributions seniors have made to our community.

This year is Mon Sheong Foundation’s 10th year hosting the Golden Seniors Celebration. This celebration was created to honour seniors for their contributions towards their families and communities. To commemorate a decade of devotion to seniors, Mon Sheong specially put together a memorable program book, featuring not only wishes and blessings from Chinese School students age six and up, but also beautiful watercolour paintings from some of the senior students in Mon Sheong Scarborough Community and Volunteer Services Watercolour Painting Class and delectable recipes from three amazing chefs, Professor Chef Leo Chan, Professor Chef Fredrick Oh and Chef William Thetsombandith.

The night started off with a bang, with a high-energy performance by Orient Dance. Their dynamic choreography set the atmosphere for the rest of the night as guests enjoyed adorable performances from the children of Chinese Collective Arts Association and the dulcet tones of renowned soprano Ms. Chen Lin. Guests were able to enjoy many fun games in between dinner courses, with excited voices shouting out bingo and gasping at the many prizes that people won.
