Calling all vendors and artisans in the GTA! The 2025 Mon Sheong Lunar New Year Market is now open for applications now. Join us for a special community event brimming with cultural delights unique to this time of celebration.

Event details:
Location: S3PACE (205 Placer Ct Main Level, North York, ON M2H 0A9)
Date: January 18, 2025 (Saturday)
Time: 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

We welcome vendor applications for food and merchandise . Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until 12:00 p.m. on November 27, 2024. Please refer to the application form for more information.

Good news: there are NO booth fees for this year’s market! However, we do ask that vendors in turn offer a gift-in-kind with a market value of $50 towards our Lucky Draw prizes.

Join the Christmas Card Writing Volunteer Project!

As we gear up for the holiday season, we are thrilled to invite you to a heartwarming opportunity to bring joy to our Mon Sheong seniors through the maic of handwritten cards.

Our talented Mon Sheong Youth Group Christmas Card Design Contest winner, Avallon Tu, has created a beautiful card that perfectly captures the spirit of the season. Now, we’re inviting you, our dedicated volunteers, to help spread this festive cheer.

This initiative aims to gather heartfelt messages from our community to share with Mon Sheong seniors. Your words have the power to brighten their holidays and remind them of the love and support that surrounds them.

How to Participate

Step 1: Complete the online application form here to register for one of the sessions:

  • Option 1:
    Saturday, December 7, 2024
    2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
    Scarborough Mon Sheong Community & Volunteer Services Centre
    (2020 McNicoll Ave., Scarborough)
  • Option 2:
    Monday – Friday, December 9 – 13, 2024
    10:00 AM – 5:00 PM
    Mon Sheong Corporate Office
    (Building C, 11211 Yonge St., Richmond Hill)

Volunteers are expected to participate for at least one hour and complete a minimum of five cards. Staying for the entire session is optional. Free parking is available at both locations.

Step 2: Write greetings in English and Chinese (if possible) and decorate the card.
Step 3: Earn 1 volunteer hour for every 5 cards written and decorated.
Step 4: Cards will be sent to seniors living in Mon Sheong Long Term Care Homes and Private Care before Christmas.

Volunteer Requirements

  • Must be at least 14 years of age
  • Preferred if volunteers can write in both English and Chinese (volunteers can pair up to write cards in both languages)
  • Creative and artistic, with the ability to decorate cards using vibrant drawings

Your participation will make a tremendous difference in brightening the holiday season for our seniors. Thank you for your continued dedication to making a meaningful impact in the lives of others.

And the MSYG Christmas Card Design Contest 2024 Winner is…

A big congratulations to Avallon Tu for winning our MSYG Christmas Card Design Contest 2024 with their beautiful piece, “As the Season Spins, Let the Magic Begin!” Avallon’s artwork stood out with both community support and creative merit.

As our contest winner, Avallon will receive a $100 gift card and 10 printed copies of their card! This magical design will also help spread holiday cheer to Mon Sheong seniors this December, with heartfelt messages written by our volunteers.

Thank you to everyone who participated, supported, and celebrated the creativity of these young artists! Together, we’re bringing the magic of the season to life, one card at a time.

MSYG Christmas Card Design Contest 2024

Can YOU design our Christmas Card?

Calling young artists in the City of Toronto and York Region! Join the MSYG Christmas Card Design Contest 2024 for a chance to win a $100 Gift Card!

The winning design will be used for this year’s Christmas Card, which volunteers will send to Mon Sheong seniors in December.

Steps:

  1. Check out the contest rules and entry form.
  2. Submit your design with the completed entry form to msyg@monsheong.org by Nov 3, 2024, 11:59 p.m.
  3. Vote for your favourite design! All entries will shared on our Facebook and Instagram pages from Nov 6 to Nov 13.
  4. The winning spot will be awarded to the design with the highest number of likes and reactions across both platforms by Nov 13, 3:00 p.m.!

Winner’s Prize:

  • $100 Cadillac Fairview CF SHOP! card® Gift Card
  • 10 copies of our 2024 Christmas Card featuring YOUR design!

Monthly Board Game Social

We are excited to announce the launch of our Monthly Board Game Social, a gathering dedicated to the enjoyment of board games and meeting new friends.

Date: Every third Saturday of each month

Time: 2 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Location: Scarborough Community & Volunteer Services Centre (2020 McNicoll Ave.)

Age Group: 16-30 years old

Free entry and walk-ins welcome! Simply join us on the day and immerse yourself in hours of fun. As a token of our appreciation for your participation, complimentary snacks will be provided to keep your energy levels up while you engage in gameplay and connect with new friends.

Join the Mon Sheong Youth Empowerment Leadership Program and embark on an inspiring 7-month journey of personal growth and community impact. Through interactive workshops, mentorship, and hands-on event management, you’ll acquire a comprehensive set of leadership and event management skills. Take part in organizing the Lunar New Year market, where you can showcase your creativity and contribute to the Chinese community. Don’t miss this opportunity to empower yourself!

What you’ll gain:
