On April 21, 2026, Mon Sheong Markham Long-Term Care Centre (30 Apple Creek Boulevard, Markham) has started accepting resident applications through Ontario Health atHome. Eligible individuals may now apply to the waitlist for placement. Mon Sheong Foundation’s new care home is expected to welcome its first residents in fall 2026.
“Mon Sheong Markham Long-Term Care Centre is our first nursing home in Markham and the largest in the City, representing a pivotal step in expanding quality senior care to our community,” says Tim Kwan, Chairman of Mon Sheong Foundation. “Construction began in fall 2023 and is expected to wrap up this summer. The eleven-storey building will provide 320 new care beds, helping to ease the urgent demand for long-term care. The new long-term care facility is expected to be in operation in fall this year. We look forward to expanding our quality care services to more seniors in need.”
Reflecting the Foundation’s commitment to resident-centred care, Markham Long-Term Care Centre is designed to prioritize seniors’ health, safety and comfort. The state-of-the-art facility offers enhanced Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) measures, including individual Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) units are installed in every room. The care home provides en-suite washrooms in both basic and private accommodations. Most private rooms are equipped with en-suite shower rooms. While requiring a higher construction cost and more space, these upgraded rooms offer increased safety and privacy for all residents.
Applications and admissions to long-term care homes across Ontario are managed by the provincial organization, Ontario Health atHome. Care coordinators at Ontario Health atHome will work with the applicants, their family and caregivers to assess eligibility, select appropriate long-term care homes and complete the application process.
