Position Summary:

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, Building Services, the Building Services Supervisor is responsible for building operations of all Mon Sheong Long-Term Care buildings according to Fixing Long Term Care Act (FLTCA) as well as other MSF properties. The incumbent is responsible for coordinating and supervising scheduled routine and preventive maintenance, compliance testing and inspection of all the components of the building systems in these facilities.

Main Duties:

  • Ensure all building systems are fully operational and inspected according to the organization’s standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Inspect grounds, building and equipment routinely to determine necessity of repairs and maintenance.
  • Coordinate with Support Service Supervisors, contractors, and in-house maintenance staff to carry out scheduled and emergency maintenance works in each building.
  • Provide training to maintenance workers for building systems operation, inspection, and maintenance.
  • Sharing knowledge and hands-on experience in maintenance, repair, renovation, and improvement with maintenance workers and team members.
  • Able to identify building systems issues and create proper steps-by-steps procedures for maintenance workers to conduct troubleshot on common issues.
  • Maintain and analyze the maintenance record for individual buildings.
  • Prepare work reports and other administrative guides.
  • Ensure the maintenance of sufficient building supplies, outside contractor services, and equipment to sustain overall building operations.
  • Report to site, coordinate rescue, and initiate emergency service calls in the event of a building emergency or scheduled project (i.e. power outage, flooding, emergency shutdown of gas and water).
  • Work closely with Home Administration team on cleaning, snow removal and landscaping operations.
  • Plans and Administers budgets for building operations, service contracts, equipment, and supplies.
  • Co-ordinates with Information Technologies on maintaining the day-to-day operations of communication, computing and networking systems within the organization and assists Director of Finance on planning and budgeting for new and replacement hardware and software.

Qualifications:

  • Post secondary education in engineering and technology related discipline with a minimum of 3 years experience in facility management including management of building systems: HVAC, domestic water system, fire safety systems, electrical distribution system, backup generator, networking and telephone system, nursing call bell systems.
  • Experience working in healthcare sector an asset.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel.
  • Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively and efficiently handle regulatory and compliance issues with deadlines.
  • Ability and willingness to contribute effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English and Chinese an asset.

Salary Range: $58,000 – $80,000 per annum
