On July 16, a special ceremony was held for the presentation of the Certificate of Occupancy for Mon Sheong Dr. Paul Woo Long-Term Care Centre (168 Sandiford Drive, Stouffville).
Mayor Iain Lovatt, Town Councillors and officials of the Municipal Office presented the Certificate of Occupancy to Mon Sheong Foundation’s Board of Directors, signalling that the 224-bed facility is now eligible for occupancy. The ceremony was followed by a guided tour of the new building, which showcased a range of enhanced features designed to support resident-centred care.

- On behalf of the Whitchurch-Stouffville Town Council, Mayor Iain Lovatt presented the Certificate of Occupancy for Mon Sheong Dr. Paul Woo Long-Term Care Centre to Tim Kwan, Chairman of Mon Sheong Foundation; Garth Low, President of Mon Sheong Foundation; and Stephanie Wong, Chief Executive Officer of Mon Sheong Foundation.
- The eight-story facility will operate 224 care beds and sports enhanced Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) features. An individual Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) unit is installed in every room.
- Dignitaries enjoyed a guided tour of Mon Sheong Dr. Paul Woo Long-Term Care Centre, including the spaciously designed Multipurpose Rooms and Lounge.
- En-suite washrooms are installed in both Basic Rooms and Private Rooms, allowing residents to access a private washroom. While requiring more space and resources, the design improves infection control, privacy and comfort for residents.
- Washing is convenient and safe in bath rooms with special bathtubs designed for staff to assist residents.
- Residents enjoy three meals and two snacks daily from menus designed by dieticians and tailored to residents’ nutritional needs.
- Aside from activity rooms on each floor, the Home features two Multi-purpose Rooms for festive celebrations and special events.
- The Home has received over 1,000 applicants on the waiting list. The first residents are expected to be admitted soon, pending approval from the provincial government.
