Mon Sheong Youth Group Lunar New Year Market
Celebrating the Year of the Snake, Mon Sheong Youth Group welcomed 700 visitors to a lively Lunar New Year Market in January 18th. Attended by dignitaries from three levels of government, the youth-run event hosted over 20 vendors, a lion dance ceremony, music performances and a lucky draw for festive gifts.
Visit from the Mayor of Toronto
On the second day of Lunar New Year, Mayor Olivia Chow, City of Toronto, visited Scarborough Mon Sheong Court, sharing felicitous greetings and lucky red packets with seniors.
Mon Sheong Radiothon
On February 13, Mon Sheong Radiothon hit the airwaves on A1 Chinese Radio, broadcasting heartwarming interviews with long-term care residents, volunteers and Mon Sheong representatives. The event raised over $210,000 to support the development of three long-term care centres.
Mon Sheong Home for the Aged Celebrates 50th Anniversary
Mon Sheong Home for the Aged celebrated its 50th anniversary in March. Along with the “Pieces of Love,” the Home’s art project of mosaic art installation and ceiling tile paintings, lion dance and cake cutting, the party featured music performances from volunteers and the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Residents also enjoyed playing games with the management team.
King Charles III Coronation Medal Ceremony
In April, the Honourable Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, presented the King Charles III Coronation Medal to 7 members of Mon Sheong Foundation. In total, 11 honorees from the Mon Sheong community received the Coronation Medal.
Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
In April, we hosted a Volunteer Appreciation Dinner attended by over 170 volunteers. The Service Award presentation recognized volunteers with over 100 hours of service in 2024, with the highest-performing volunteer accumulating 1,300 hours.
AdvantAge Ontario Members Home Tour
On April 30, Mon Sheong Home for the Aged was invited by AdvantAge Ontario to hold an exclusive facility tour for delegates of the long-term care sector. With a focus on “Culturally Compassionate Care,” our representatives shared valuable insights on delivering patient-centred care to cultural minorities.
Mon Sheong Walk & Fun
On June 14, over 900 participants walked to support our long-term care developments at Richmond Green Park, including dignitaries from all three levels of government and the public. Visitors enjoyed a free Fun Fair with game booths and live entertainment.
Mon Sheong Red Panda Dragon Boat Team
Congratulations to the Mon Sheong Red Pandas on their success at the Toronto International Dragon Boat Race Festival! The Red Pandas rowed their way to a silver medal in the 500m Mixed Division I Championship Final.
A special birthday celebration for 14 centenarians
Mon Sheong Scarborough Long-Term Care Centre held a special birthday celebration for 14 centenarians, filled with warm memories and happy blessings with their family members.
Dr. Paul Woo Long-Term Care Centre Open House
Mon Sheong Dr. Paul Woo Long-Term Care Centre hosted seven Public Open House Days from June 28 to July 26 to help the public gain a better understanding of the environment, facilities, and the service at the new Home.
Dr. Paul Woo Long-Term Care Centre obtained the Certificate of Occupancy
Mayor Iain Lovatt, Whitchurch-Stouffville Town Councillors and officials of the Municipal Office presented the Certificate of Occupancy to Mon Sheong Dr. Paul Woo Long-Term Care Centre.
Singing Fundraising Event by SCVS
Scarborough Mon Sheong Community & Volunteer Services Centre held a charity singing event in July, which attracted over 50 participants. Led by singing instructor Ms. Susanna Yau, attendees lifted their voices for a good cause, successfully raised over $1,600 in support of the Centres’ services.
Roof-Topping Ceremony for Markham Buttonville Mon Sheong Court
Markham Buttonville Mon Sheong Court held a Roof-Topping Ceremony to celebrate the progress of this senior residence in early of August. This 8-storey building, featuring over 300 units, is now entering its final phase of construction and set to open next spring — offering a high-quality home for adults aged 55 and above.
Chinese Immersion Summer Camp
The five-week Chinese Immersion Summer Camp is concluding on August 8th. Families are invited to the closing ceremony to enjoy a delightful showcase of student performances and handicrafts.
Golden Jubilee Scholarship
On August 12, Mon Sheong Foundation awarded the Golden Jubilee Scholarship to two talented high school graduates in Ontario, William Huynh and Dabria Peta-Dragos, at Scarborough Community and Volunteer Services Centre, pledging $4,000 towards each recipient’s post-secondary tuition.
The application for Golden Jubille Scholarship 2026 will be start from end of April.
Golf Classic Tournament
The “Mon Sheong Golf Classic 2025” was held on August 21 at Bayview Golf & Country Club, bringing together over 100 golf enthusiasts who swung for a good cause. The event raised over $150,000 for Mon Sheong Foundation’s “Because We Care” Capital Campaign in support of building new long-term care centres.

Donation of Winver Financial Services Inc.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Winver Financial Services Inc., David Cheng, President of Winver Financial Services Inc. and Vice-President of Mon Sheong Foundation, generously donated $3,000 in support of Mon Sheong Foundation’s “Because We Care” capital campaign, which aims to build new long-term care centres on August 28.
Donation of Doris Chan and Friends Charity Concert
Doris Chan, First Vice-Chair of Mon Sheong Foundation, generously donated $33,000 from “Doris Chan & Friends Charity Concert” which was held on September 6 to Mon Sheong, supporting our mission to provide high-quality care services to seniors in need.
Mid-Autumn Festival Party for Community Seniors
On October 4, the Mon Sheong Community and Volunteer Services Centres in Scarborough and downtown Toronto each hosted a “Mid-Autumn Festival” party, welcoming a total of 125 seniors to a complimentary festive lunch. Attendees enjoyed live performances and lucky draws, took home wonderful prizes, and shared a joyful celebration.

A total of 224 residents will be admitted in phases, and we’re committed to providing them with the best resident-centered care. With five long-term care homes and a total of 1,001 care beds, Mon Sheong Foundation is proud to be the largest non-profit long-term care operator in Ontario.
Visit from the Minister of Long-Term Care
Hon. Natalia Kusendova-Bashta, Minister of Long-Term Care, visited Mon Sheong Scarborough Long-Term Care Centre on October 16. She toured the facility’s high-quality services and amenities, learned about residents’ lives, and shared care and warmth with them.
Centenarian Birthday Party at Stouffville LTC
Mon Sheong Stouffville Long-Term Care Centre hosted a Centenarian Birthday Party on October 21, where 20 residents aged 99 and over 100 celebrated with their families. The event was filled with warmth and laughter, featuring lively performances to mark the joyous occasion.
Cathay Ball
Cathay Ball 2025 was held on Novembre 1, bringing together close to 700 guests for an unforgettable evening. This year’s theme, “One Thousand and One Nights,” marked a significant milestone as Mon Sheong reaches a total of 1,001 care beds, making us the largest non-profit long-term care operator in Ontario. Guests are fully immersed in a night of rhythm, energy, and wonder.
Donation of Toronto Unity Lions Club
Toronto Unity Lions Club held their first Charity Gala on November 8. Mon Sheong is deeply grateful for the donation of $3,500, which helps us expand our high-quality senior care services and enable more seniors and those in need in our community to receive quality care as soon as possible — a true reflection of compassion and dedication to our community.
