Mon Sheong Lunar New Year Market
Celebrating the Year of the Dragon, Mon Sheong Lunar New Year Market by Mon Sheong Youth Group welcomed over 700 visitors on February 4! A big thank you to RBC Foundation for their funding and support on the Youth Empowerment Leadership Program.

Visit from Lieutenant Governor of Ontario
On the eve of Lunar New Year (February 9), Hon. Edith Dumont, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, visited residents at Mon Sheong Stouffville Long-Term Care Centre. Her Honour enjoyed Lunar New Year performances by students from Mon Sheong Chinese School and heartwarming interactions with the elderly residents.

Ontario Week of Appreciation
During the Ontario Week of Appreciation for the Non-Profit Sector, Mon Sheong Foundation and Mon Sheong Richmond Hill Long-Term Care Centre were honoured to be recognized by MPP Michael Parsa, MPP Daisy Wai and Mayor David West, City of Richmond Hill for our dedication to serving the community.

60th Anniversary Kick-off Ceremony
Founded in 1964, Mon Sheong Foundation has been caring for the elderly and nurturing the young. On March 20, government dignitaries, donors and representatives of corporates and community partners gathered at Mon Sheong Stouffville Long-term Care Centre to kick off the Foundation’s 60th Anniversary celebrations.

“Undrafted” Concert
Mon Sheong Ambassador Laurence Liang generously donated $10,000 of proceeds from his first solo concert “Undrafted” on March 27 to Mon Sheong Foundation.

Volunteer Appreciation Dinner
On April 27, we welcomed 150 volunteers to a heartwarming Volunteer Appreciation Dinner for the first time since the pandemic.

Visit from Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance
Hon. Chrystia Freeland, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, visited Scarborough Mon Sheong Court on May 10, accompanied by Member of Parliament Jean Yip. She received a warm welcome by senior residents, joining them for tea and learning about their daily needs and challenges.

Doris Chan and Friends Charity Concert
Doris Chan, First Vice-Chair of Mon Sheong Foundation, generously donated the net proceeds of $16,800 from “Doris Chan & Friends Charity Concert” to Mon Sheong.

60th Anniversary Walk and Fun
Mon Sheong Foundation held the “60th Anniversary Walk and Fun” at Richmond Green Sports Centre & Park on June 15. The event combined a walkathon with a community carnival to commemorate the Foundation’s 60th Anniversary and raise funds for building two new Long-Term Care Centres in Markham and Stouffville. The celebration welcomed over 20 dignitaries from three levels of government and 300 participants reflecting strong community support for Mon Sheong.

Hon. Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility Visit
On July 18, Hon. Raymond Cho, Minister for Seniors and Accessibility, visited Markham Mon Sheong Court. During the visit, he engaged warmly with our residents, expressing his care for the seniors and happiness in seeing the active and vibrant retirement lives they lead.

Dreams and Love Together—The Melody of Mei Solo Concert
MeiYing Liang, President of Chinese Professional Women Association of Canada, donated the proceeds of $3,055 from “Dreams and Love Together—The Melody of Mei Solo Concert” to Mon Sheong Foundation.

Chinese Immersion Summer Camp
The Chinese Immersion Summer Camp held its closing ceremony on August 2. Parents enjoyed the students’ spectacular performances, which included lion dance, Cantonese opera, taekwondo, drama, music and dance, as well as an exhibition showcasing students’ handicrafts.

Golden Jubilee Scholarship
On August 13, Mon Sheong Foundation awarded the Golden Jubilee Scholarship to two talented high school graduates in Ontario at Scarborough Community and Volunteer Services Centre, pledging $4,000 towards each recipient’s post-secondary tuition. 2024 recipients were Sarina Cheng and Edward Huang.

Golf Classic
Mon Sheong Golf Classic returned on August 22 at Bayview Golf and Country Club, raising $144,000 to support our “Because We Care” Capital Campaign to build new long-term care centres for our seniors.

60th Anniversary Celebration Book & Photo Exhibition
Mon Sheong Foundation held an opening ceremony for the “60th Anniversary Photo Exhibition” at the Richmond Hill Public Library Central Branch. The ceremony also featured the donation of a 60th Anniversary Celebration Book, titled “60 Years of Caring and Sharing,” to the Library. Distinguished guests in attendance included Stephen Chait, Richmond Hill Public Library Board Chair; Henry Pau, one of the Foundation’s founding members; and Michael Con, son of Mon Sheong founder Reverend Dr. Ronald Con.

Alan Ho Charity Golf Tournament
Regional Councillor Alan Ho, City of Markham, generously supported Mon Sheong Foundation with a donation of $11,800 from his 10th Annual Markham Charity Golf Tournament.

Fortune Rice Donation Campaign
Mon Sheong Foundation distributed over 6,000 bags of “Fortune Rice” to community members and food banks as a gift of appreciation and support during the Mid-Autumn season.

Scarborough Long-Term Care Centre 20th Anniversary Celebration
Happy 20th anniversary to Mon Sheong Scarborough Long-Term Care Centre! Residents and families marked the occasion with a joyful celebration in October.

Visit from Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development
On October 17, Markham Mon Sheong Court welcomed a visit from Hon. Mary Ng, Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development, who met with our seniors and learned about the vibrant community life at Mon Sheong Court.

Cathay Ball: Diamond Celebration—Shining 60 Years & Beyond
A true “Diamond Celebration,” Mon Sheong Foundation’s 32nd Cathay Ball welcomed 1,000 guests to a spectacular gala at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, with over 20 officials from all three levels of government in attendance.

Community & Volunteer Services Centre Holiday Celebration
100 seniors gathered at Mon Sheong Community & Volunteer Services Centre (downtown Toronto) for a festive celebration, with gifts and lucky draw prizes generously supported by T&T.
